AIR 9 CARBON
Niner is dedicated to making extraordinary machines that go way beyond rider expectations for performance, quality and versatility – an iconic example is the Air 9 Carbon, our first carbon platform and one that has become the gold-standard of the do-it-all hardtail category.

How do you make a dual-purpose frame the best of both worlds? We started with a list of specific requirements – the Air 9 Carbon has to be fast, light, and strong enough to withstand the torque of the strongest singlespeed riders on the burliest gearing, all while maintaining the razor sharp handling and forgiving ride you’ve come to expect from the Air 9 family. Whether this bike is built with a single gear or a complete drivetrain you will see it was specificially designed for how YOU ride.

PURPOSEFUL DESIGN
Niner’s carbon engineers utilize FEA studies, physical mock-ups and a rigorous industrial design phase to create the shapes and carbon layup of each frame they design. To address the specific demands of a singlespeed, key sections of the Air 9 Carbon received massive structural shaping to increase torsional rigidity as well as helping to disperse energy, avoid stress risers and increase the natural damping characteristics of the material. Hitting these targets for stiffness and strength in all three planes makes the swooping lines and angles of the Air 9 Carbon as functionally beautiful as they are aesthetically pleasing.

TAPERED HEADTUBE
The benefits of a tapered headtube aren’t just for riders of long travel bikes. XC racers and riders also see significant advantages, which is why we incorporate the technology in all our new frames. By using the newest tapered steerer suspension forks, we create the stiffest front end possible – leading to increased steering precision as you carve a corner and descend toward the finish line. The integrated headset used in the Air 9 Carbon is light and simple. Installation, cleaning and maintenance take seconds rather than minutes, a boon to anyone who queues up at the starting line without a team mechanic.

CYA BOTTOM BRACKET SYSTEM
The Air 9 Carbon features BioCentric EBB technology and CYA Bottom Bracket system – the most flexible BB/gearing system available. Run your Niner as a singlespeed with our BioCentric EBB or go with front derailleur compatibility by using one of our CYA BB inserts to accommodate your choice of bottom bracket technologies.

INTERNAL SHIFTER ROUTING
Aluminum headbadge designed for full-length housing to the rear derailleur simplifies cable changes and protects cables from the elements. Cable routing is there if you need it, and disappears if you don’t – allowing for the sleekest singlespeed on the block.
